A question I am faced with on a regular basis is "So what now?" Usually around week 7, my clients begin to wonder what they should do after they finish the 8-week Kinetix Basic Program. There are a few factors that go into deciding which kinetical path to follow.

First, know your options.
There are three options to consider once you've finished with your 8-week session.
1. Continue with Basic Program returning to the first 4-week exercises--This program is designed to change the shape of your body. When you follow this 8-week program, you can lose body fat while retaining lean body mass. You will learn the basics, develop healthy habits and transform your body.
2.Performance Program -- The goals of the Kinetix Performance Program are to decrease body fat and increase lean muscle mass, muscular tone, and strength. This program is ideal for those who have completed the Kinetix Basic Program and are now ready for a new challenge.
- 40 minutes 6 days/week
-2 strength exercises are performed on each muscle group, then 20 minutes of interval cardio.
-Performance journal
3. Endurance Program--Developed for the endurance athlete gearing up for the next big event, this program is designed to increase both cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance while retaining lean body mass. If you're not an endurance athlete, this program will work for any participant who has completed the Kinetix Basic Program and wants to take their cardiovascular fitness to the next level.
-60 minutes 6 days/week
-MWF perform 3 strength exercises (like basic but with more repetitions to target endurance muscle fibers) then 30 minutes interval cardio
-T,TH,S perform 60 minutes of steady state cardio at 70-75% hr
-Endurance Journal

Consider your goals.
Take some time to think about your goals. Go back to that ultimate vision of health/wellness/fitness you created for yourself before beginning your 8-week journey. Write down your goals and identify where you are trying to get to.
1. Get 'em on paper. Jot down your goals--remember a goal without a plan is just a dream :)
2. Think about how much time you're willing and able to devote to your exercise routine. (Be reasonable, this is not something to do 110% for 8 weeks and then quit--this is a lifestyle you want to be able to commit to.)
3. Take an honest look at your nutrition. Did eating 40-40-20 balanced meals 6x each day become a habit for you? Is it pretty second nature now, or do you struggle with it? If you're feeling like you need some more practice with hitting your k-counts, consider staying with the Basic program a bit longer until you've nailed it!

Make an educated decision.
Once you have made a decision about which program to pursue, feel free to chat with a coach or even take a class for a week to start off on the right foot!
Be sure to also calculate your Target Heart Rate and your K-count for your new program, as these will be different from Basic.

Best of luck to you all as you graduate from your 8-week Program!! Don't hesitate to talk to your coach about what is best for you and your goals. We're here to ensure that you accomplish all that you desire :)
Cheers!!

I did the basic program 3 years ago. I had purchased the kit with shake and cookie+cream bars at our walmart belleville ON Canada then they quit selling Kinetix. I thought I was holding my own but in 3 year have gained 14 lbs without a program and work out routine so I will need to decide what to do in 8 weeks too! From SUE

i love the basic program so much. i admit, i was the "more is better" girl before this. now i have so much more of my life back...more time to enjoy life. 30 minutes a day, really is all you need, if you keep it together with nutrition!

Great post. I just started the Performance Plan, am in my second week. I like it but I have had to adjust to the new k-counts. So your point about nailing the Basic nutrition is a really good one. Thanks for the breakdown, it can be intimidating deciding where to go next. Thanks.
