Are you traveling for the holidays this year and wondering how to continue with your workouts? There is a solution! If you are willing to do a little extra work up front, continuing with your workouts while on the road should be no problem.

The key for successful workouts while traveling is planning ahead. Here are a few tips to make your holiday workouts a success.

Plan where you will workout. Where are you staying? At a house with friends or relatives? In a hotel? Either way there’s most likely a gym nearby. Most gyms offer some kind of a daily or weekly guest pass. Call your host or hotel to find out what gyms are in the area and visit their website to look-up hours, equipment, and rates. Or better yet, purchase the Kinetix Anywhere Gym.

Plan your workout time. Often during holidays, the longer you put your workout off during the day the less likely you are to complete your workout. Let’s face it, things come up, you are visiting with family, sightseeing, shopping etc. To eliminate the majority of these roadblocks try planning to workout earlier in the day before most of the family is awake. This will minimize distractions & prevent your workout time from disrupting family plans. An early morning workout will also give you more energy for the day.

Pack your workout clothes. Don’t forget this one! Make sure you pack your workout clothes, comfortable athletic shoes, and heart rate monitor.

I appreciate your concern Stewart...no, the snow hasn't prevented me from walking to the gym :)

I hear you on this one Lisa- no worries, do the best you can. I have walked up and down the hills in my neighborhood with a 30 pound toddler on my back- it's different but it will still be leg day!!!

Boy, the snow has really done a number on my daily routine. I've had to "walk the walk" these last couple of weeks, and I tell, you .. not having a plan has left me feeling slothlike. How in the heck did I eve live before Kinetix? Iam back with a renewed spirit, (partially because my pants are a wee bit more snug..NOT part of my plan!). I have a plan in place to get me through the next few days so I won't feel this way EVER again!
Snow or no snow, holiday or no holiday, putting forth the best effort is key.. I'll be journaling this whole week as well, open for review later.
Thanks fpr the blog James.. very helpful!

Great question Stewart! I will be visiting with my family during the holidays & have a local gym picked out, they offer a daily or weekly pass for $5 & $15. I'll be getting my workouts in without a problem & hopefully dragging my Mom & Dad in as well. What about you? I hear you won't have access to a gym during your Holiday travels, what is your strategy?

James, I'll think of you each morning while I'm walking the beach or using my travel bands! My only tip to add would be to pack sunscreen for warm climates...even 30 minutes of beach cardio requires sun protection. Trust me on this one...I know!
