Have you ever been in the middle of your strength training and found yourself just breezing through the workouts, going from one set to the next, thinking about your day or what your Free Target will be for the upcoming weekend?
We have all been there. That place where our minds go somewhere else and before you know it .... our workout is over.
This is a Great time to ask yourself, “Are you pushing yourself hard enough?” If you even think for a second or two on that question ...... you most likely are not.
The idea is to be fatiguing the muscles towards the last few reps of every set. So essentially, failing is succeeding in this program. (Life is so backwards sometimes, lol!)
So if those muscles aren’t fatigued and failing at the end of every set, then make the choice to go up. To see the best results choose to maximize your time during your strength sessions and ask yourself, “Can I go up?” or “Did I fail/fatigue my muscles?” If you can answer that with a “Yes!” then you are making a statement and you are right on track. If you hesitate or ponder it for even a few seconds, you most likely can go up.
Keep in mind your form, posture and what muscles you are working when strength training. You will maximize your time and see results faster.

I think some of my k-clients think I'm evil because one time I told them that if they were laughing while they were lifting then they weren't lifting enough. SNAP goes the whip!! ha ha
We all joke about it but I think it's a good rule of thumb, focus is important and if you're mind is wandering and you're busy laughing and joking while you're in the middle of a set then you might need to re-focus your mind back to your workout.
This is not to say that we shouldn't all have a blast, laugh and enjoy our workouts but I do believe that while you're lifting it should be your main focus. There is just as much time during a workout to rest between sets and be as silly as you want!
GOsh I hope I don't sound evil....I swear we have fun in my groups! Hope no one is afraid to workout with me now!!

Great blog Crystal. I believe this is one of the most overlooked keys to success on our program. Utilizing our journals to make small continual progress (up those weights with perfect form) every week or two is very important. The body adapts. Simple as that. We must give it a new stimulus to adapt to! Loved this blog.

For sure! Don't be afraid to push it, but keep that beautiful form.
Thanks Crystal.
