Okay, so I guess it’s about time I stop wearing Spanks™. It’s been six months since I had baby Piper, and I’m still stuffing myself into that elastic girdle. Enough is enough already. After more than a year, I finally found the courage to step on the BCA machine for my body composition and the numbers hit me like a ton of bricks. Wow, that was painful. I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with that bloody BCA machine. It’s been there to measure many milestones, given me reason to celebrate my hard work and dedication and also handed me some tough blows. But I will say this, it’s always been honest with me. The numbers don’t lie.

For me, the Kinetix Challenge came at the perfect time. Time to suck it up and deal with the harsh reality that my future can’t be tied to some slimming girdle. Time to look at myself in the mirror and see the truth. And the truth is, it’s time to give some of my time back to ME! It’s time to get focused and rebuild my body, my health and in turn, some of my self esteem.

Jamie and I have a saying, “you can not give what you do not have.” In order for me to share my passion for health and fitness, I have to live that way. In that same vein, in order for me to create an empowering, passionate environment for baby Piper, I have to feel empowered and passionate about myself. THAT is what MY Kinetix Challenge is going to be about. I’m going to dedicate myself to the Kinetix program for 8-weeks. No wavering, total focus and passion around recreating myself so I can give what I have to you, to my family and most importantly, to me.

Of course, this all sounds pretty straightforward. I’ve come to learn over the past decade that without a solid support network, staying focused and reaching your goals is really hard. Even at the peak of my “fitness” days, I really did need Jamie and a few others to keep me focused when times got tough and when training and eating healthy just didn’t seem like a priority.

That my friends is why I’m so excited about the Kinetix meetings! As some of you know, we’re now holding daily meetings in the Starbucks Support Center (room 4013) from 12 – 1pm. The meetings are fun, informative and most importantly they really are a powerful tool to keep you focused and inspired on your journey.

In many ways I think it’s been those meetings that have driven my decision to take The Kinetix Challenge. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been so inspired with all your stories of triumph and success. I’ve watched some of you make dramatic physical and emotional progress. I’ve also gained strength by watching the people in those meetings support each other through the many challenges that come up in your day-to-day lives. That includes tips for putting on "pit stick" after shoulder workouts – LOL!

"Thank you" to everyone who has attended a Kinetix meeting. In trying to help you, you’ve helped me. How cool is that?

Here’s to our continued journey together!

Meagan

PS – For those of you who haven’t attended a Kinetix meeting yet, please stop by and say hello. I’d love to meet you and answer any questions you might have.

Meags! You totally rock! Before I began reading this this morning (6:35) I was reading and contemplating my own journal to see where I can make some changes. I attend the meeting yesterday and talked to Amanda about a few questions and that was one hint she gave me. Your blog came at the right time. I feel great every day on Kinetix and I'm proud of how strong I am what I don't get is why these pounds just stick around. I mean I know I am a likeable person and all but come on already - go the hell away!!! So what I'm saying is that we are here for you just like you've been here for us. Piper is probably one of the luckiest children on the planet to have a life w/you and Jamie! I've often wondered if you guys would adopt me and Allie but I guess it's a no now:( I'm really no trouble at all - it's really Allie - she's high maintenance.

Thanks for the post Meags.
I know that it is easy to get lost in "mommyville". You almost feel guilty for missing out on the time with your little one to squeeze a workout in there. You got it though girlfriend. You have to do it for your sanity. Would our kiddos rather have Moms that have gone over the edge, or ones that are vibrant, healthy, and in a space in which we can enjoy, really take advantage of all that life brings? Not hard to figure that one out.

I am here for you girl. Let me know if you need anything . . . the offer is out there. Here is to getting your body back!

You rock on girl. Down with Spanx up with strength training. What a wonderful gift to yourself and to your daughter. I've got your back!

I'm there for you sister. I agree, the Kinetix Anywhere meeting I attend weekly has become a regular source of support for me and helps to keep that focus. In fact, I probably need to come more than once a week right now. :)
