When I don't want to work out

Hi Friends...

I love to exercise. Very few things are as satisfying to me as really pushing myself. I love doing the Performance program because I get to lift weights... lots of weights.

This morning, however, for whatever reason, I simply did not want to do it. I wanted to keep right on going, and just head into the office. Relax with an early morning Americano, and start the day. Healthy Lifestyle Choices and Structure

Hi Friends...

I've been a Kinetix member now for around 18 months. I recently relocated... My regular routine of going into the K Gym every morning at 5:30 AM for 18 months has changed. The folks I worked out with virtually every day for the past 18 months, Gerry, Lisa, Erin, Mark, Lydia, etc... my workout partners, spotters, medicine ball throwers (you know who you are), my support group, isn't around... The Magic of Strength Training

I remember when I heard Erin's story at the last K Challenge awards ceremony. She lost 9% of body fat over 8 weeks without weight loss! She simply became stronger/leaner. She is a great example of what strength training can do.

In my own experience, due to injury, I was unable to lift weights for four months. Over that period of time I gained no weight. However, I did gain 4% of body fat. Basically the weight shifted from lean to fat.

Celebrating Successes

I ran into Coach Terry yesterday, and we were sharing our collective tales of woe. She has had an injured back for a year now. It has significantly affected her ability to work out. I've had an injurred arm for around four months, and am limited to cardio.

Lifestyle Changes

I was reflecting this morning on the behavioral changes required to change to a healthy lifestyle. I'm just going to focus on nutrition for this posting.

For most of us, we ate what we wanted, when we wanted, without much consideration to what we were consuming. At least that was the norm for me. Charlie...It was good to see your posts around here this weekend. You mentioned a calcium/injury link...is it your arm that is still acting up? I think back to our conversation from last summer at the SSC when I get frustrated. I'm learning to live with some of my limitations....celebrating success does help! I've seen awesome improvements over the past few months. I'll be walking my first 1/2 marathon next Sunday...something that I couldn't have done a year ago. Hope you are looking for things to celebrate too!!

Charlie , hows it goin? I have had a TON of stuff (unplanned) going on and have 'fallen off the face of the planet"....so I got on my gravity suit and pulled myself back to the big blue planet so that I can get back to K-business! Most of the habits I established are still lurking (luckily) and now I can get back on that rock and celebrate leg day along with everyone else. Nice to know that this truly IS part of my lfe, and not 'just a diet' or fad. Hope all is good there in Ohio!

Charlie,

Hello. I am progressing well I believe. Jeremy has been great to work with and he has kept us all very focused. I can't believe this is our last week with him. He will definitely be missed.

However, I know feel like I have control over myself. Even if I have bad days, (which I had over the weekend) I am ok. In the past if I slipped up, I would get depressed and think I've completely failed. Now, I know that I just have to pay attention to the road bumps along the way and keep going. I'm not nearly as hard on myself for not being "perfect".
