The Difference Makers

Have you ever done something in your life that really changed it? Have you ever put in the necessary work to get what you want? Looking back on those experiences, have you ever thought about those who were supporting you along the way? I’m speaking about those individuals that support our efforts to become our best, our Difference Makers.

Our supporters come into our lives in many different ways. From friends and family to that occasional person you meet in line at Starbucks. Who are those that… Continue

Slow and steady wins the race

One of the biggest questions I get is:

How fast should I do each exercise repetition? When I give feedback, I like to relate it to an old story about the tortoise and the hare. The tortoise ends up winning a race against the hare because the tortoise maintained a slow and consistent pace. Kinetix is like the tortoise, in which we are all working towards the common goal of getting and staying in the best shape of our lives.

From a Kinetix Strength Training Standpoint, getting and staying… Continue

Twenty O Nine...Here we GO!

After closing the final chapter on 2008, I took a look back on the year! 2008 started with a tough two quarters at school. I took 40 credits in 6 months! Wow, I'm still a little shaky from that whole experience! But the brightside was finishing my degree & graduating in June of 08 (06-07-08). Definitely worth the incredibly long hours of studying, plus the graduation ceremony was held at Seahawk stadium. I always wanted to take a hand-off there…I just assumed it would a football, and not a p… Continue

The weekend was great! I ran 13 miles on Saturday for my Marathon training. It went pretty well. It has been pretty warm in the mornings, so that makes it a little bit more challenging. But it was good. I still need to watch the videos. I should have some time this week to do that. It's getting down to crunch time! :-)

Thanks for the message! Yes! I've climbed Flat top once all the way to the top and multiple times up to the second sadle (right before the rock climbing starts!). It's been a wet summer this year so haven't gotten up there yet, but hoping to do so in the next couple of weeks.

I have a lot of questions right now, but I've been out of the loop so far. It's my own fault. I missed the webinar that was held at our company on 7/14. I did get my starter kit in the mail yesterday. I'm going to review the "Getting Started" video this weekend. That will probably answer a lot of the questions I have right now. The biggest thing I want to learn over the next 8 weeks is how to get down to my goal weight and stay there. In the past I've been able to do it, but not necessarily in a healthy way and not in a way that I could maintain for a lifetime. That's what I'm really hoping to learn. Thankss Jeff!

Hi Jeff, thanks for your comments on my blogs! You are absolutely right - it is good to think of myself first. I am worth it! And you know... contrary to that 'old tape' conditioning of "putting yourself first = being selfish and conceited" (blech, blech, blech! ptooey) when I focus on caring for myself first, then I have more to give and share with others. Funny how that works.

Jeff - Thanks. Without getting too deep into it, the biggest thing I hope to learn after the 8 weeks is how to structurally incorporate a high quality diet into my life and by extension my family and to put a little zip into my fitness. When I was cycling and playing elite rugby before that everything was by nature very structured; specific workouts each day to develop aerobic and muscular systems, recovery days, etc. Biggest issue was getting enough calories - and sleep. Didn't really worry too much about what I was eating or quantities - so long as my performance was where it should be and I felt good, within the context of life balance.

Now that I'm not doing that, it is much more difficult to structure - I feel fit, but I would like to convert more of my 170+ pounds to muscle and improve fitness. I would be fine with gaining a bit of weight if it is the right kind of weight.

Thanks for stopping by, Jeff! I really appreciate all the support, yours included.

You can help me on my journey by answering a few questions I already have. I'll include them in my first blog post (coming up shortly!), Comment there and that way it can hopefully help more people than just me. :)
