May09 Virtue - Generosity

Hello Kineticals,
When I think of the Kinetix program...generosity is definitely a word that comes to mind.
My company (Starbucks) is generous to provide all partners access to the Kinetix program. The Kinetix team is generous of their time, talent and knowledge. Fellow Kinetix participants are generous of their support to others in the program.
But more than all of these - each person is generous to give him/herself the gift of the Kinetix lifestyle. Each person is giving themself health and we… Continue

March08 Virtue of the Month - Understanding

This month's blog is dedicated to Coaches Gerry and Terry. Thanks for always drawing me back into the Kinetix circle and understanding me as I am today.

When I think of "understanding" in the context of a virtue, I think of the Peace Prayer (aka the Prayer to St. Francis).
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;

And from a biblical standpoint...hope does not di… Continue

Mentally preparing for my 10K run tomorrow...

Hi K-friends,
I'm running a 10K tomorrow. It will be at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA. In addition to raising money for a good cause (www.4US.org), I will attempt to beat my race time from the Nike 10K Human Race...1 hour, 9 minutes. I know I can complete the run but I'm nervous I won't beat my previous time. Heck, I'm just nervous because I still find it challening to run 6.25 miles consecutively. What if I pass out on the course?
So, in order to boost my confidence and calm my nerves - I'v… Continue

Virtue of Month, September 08 - Forgiveness

Hola K-friends,

A new school year has begun and my whole family is ready for a fresh start. Peter is now in 4th grade and Ryan is in Kindergarten - they had a great summer and are happy to see their friends again. Rob is ecstatic that they are in school full-time...he will have uninterrupted days to manage business and is planning to start a fitness program. And me? The new school year has me thinking about a fresh start..renewing my commitment to the Basic Program, The Challenge and the K-Comm… Continue
