Thanks, Kathy. The info is much appreciated! I will go to the website and check out the patterns. My daughters and I have been having fun with various knitting and crocheting projects. I, too, try to keep my needles busy during those break times. The busier my hands are, the more likely I am to avoid indulging myself with extra free targets! Enjoy your knitting!

Hi Celia, I found this in a Woman's Day magazine. It's called Operation Helmetliner. It is based in Dahlgren, IL. Try: www.operationhelemtliner.org to find several different patterns for either sewing, crochet or knit. The Armed Forces call them "Wooly Pulleys". I started a scarf and am using a Moss pattern. I take it to work and knit on my 10's and lunches. It helps also take my mind off the store and unwind a bit. We have been really busy lately and it's only going to get busier as the holiday is upon us!! I love it when we are non-stop busy, deployment works well and everyone is in their "groove"! Let me know how your knitting is going. Take care!

Hi, Kathy. Your "Operation Helmetliner" sounds like a great project. Do you have a pattern for it? Or can I just google it and get the pattern and address online? Thanks for sharing!

Hello, I have joined recently and am starting a new project. I'm not a great knitter--I actually crochet more. The project is called "Operation Helmetliner" which knits helmet liners for our troops overseas. I think I'll start with a simple scarf, maybe a liner next! I understand these help keep the troops cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They must be made of 100% wool. I think I'd enjoy taking a class after the holidays to improve my knitting. Time to get ready for work--I'll take my knitting with me!!

Hello! I miss having the time to knit. I've been on a hiatus of sorts for the past year or so, mostly due to my schedule being completely crazy since I moved stores (I'm now at a 24hr store, working at least 2 over-nights a week).

The rather wordy story of how and why I got into knitting can be found here.

The guilt/desire to pick up needles and dropped projects has been coming to a head recently. You know that need to knit feeling? I gots it bad.

I'm not much of a knitter, but baby Piper has enjoyed the creations of both Cheri and Terry :-)
I knit a scarf for my stuffed animal once, and Lisa you're cardio idea sounds very interesting....be careful of those needles!!!

I am a very entry-level knitter who hasn't picked up needles in awhile. Perhaps this will help inspire me!! Thanks for the invite, Terry!
