Challenges... nothing is too big for the Kinetix community!

At Kinetix, we are all about community. Building a strong community through support, celebrating each others success and helping each other overcome our obsticals. This discussion is about getting your frustration out there and allowing the community to offer their advise and support so we can overcome these obsticals together.

Each member of Team Medford has added their biggest challenge over the past four weeks and will offer solutions to others on how to overcome the challenges they may be facing.

Let's see how many solutions we can come up with for each challenge!

I am just so proud of you Carla!! (No Jeremy this is not a response to Carla's since she is in my group!!) lol

Thank you Mindy. I'm very proud of you as well! One of the most important things I did at the beginning of this is pick you to be part of my support system. I know you will be there to support, inspire and push me.

Carla, I felt like I also didn't have the support of my husband. I sat him down and just told him the way it is. I let him know this doesn't cost a dime!! That was huge to him, which is funny because he didn't mind me spending the money on WW. Go figure. Tell them you don't want evasive procedures, and that yes with some work you can transform your body.

I know that when a parent is very negative, there isn't any telling them or mindset you can put yourself in. My granmother is like that. "That is good, but..." That is what your mom sounds like. Just remember who you are doing this for, YOU!! I realized the last time I started WW it had to be for me. No amount of doing it for Dave was going to make me successful. On all my pages of my journal I wrote the words, "YES I CAN"

Carla, YES YOU CAN!!!

My greatest challenge is making sure that I keep up with meals on the weekends, every 2 to 3 hours. I work an additional job on Friday when finished here at RBCBSO and another short job on Saturday morning, so when I finish around noon on Saturday I just want to turn everything off, tune everyone out and be on my own internal clock for the remaing day and a half on the weekend.

Deborah,

Weekends are tough for me too. Since I am not in my routine, I have a tough time "remembering" to eat. I just make sure I make time for my two hour feedings. It is even tougher when you are working. Maybe setting a timer?? Or just making it part of the routine at your weekend job. It also helps knowing it is in my journal that I didn't eat, and accounting to Jeremy on Monday of what happened LOL

thanks for the feed back.

I agree that it is more difficult on weekends! I try to sleep in a bit, and it seems to throw my whole schedule out the window. I set alarms on my cell phone to remind me it is time to eat so I don't miss any meals.

Thanks for the feed back, Yes sleep patterns are definately different on the weekends for me too... I don't set any alarms to wake myself up on Sunday that is the one day I can sleep in, except for the barking dogs in the neighborhood, which is a big bad bummer, because when it is cool enough to have the window open, I'd much rather have the fresh air.

I don't think it matters what time in the morning we start our breakfast, just that we keep things going every 2 to 3 hours once we begin our day. Unless I've missed some important info. oh well

A few weeks back I was burnt out so I slept for several hours during the day on a Saturday and I slept through several meal times, so I was off a few extra K counts that week, but the sleep felt really good so it was worth it.

My challenge is also the lunges. I still haven't got that knee to the floor but it is getting closer! I am also increasing the weights each time and making those muscles work a little harder. They are getting stronger! I have a bad right foot and sometimes the lunges challenge it the most.
Everyday we are getting stronger and stronger. Thanks for Coach Jeremy and our coworkers for cheering us on and helping us believe in ourselves!

OK, so my BIGGEST challenge over the past 4 weeks has been quitting smoking! It is very difficult when most of my friends smoke. It is so easy to just want to give up, and start smoking again. I have to do this for my health, but has definately a struggle at times!

Good for you for wanting to quit for the right reasons. I am also a former smoker and quitting really was one of the hardest thing to...ever! I smoked for 5 years and quit just over 8 years ago, so it is definitely possible. I too had many friends and family who were smokers and it did make it more of a challenge. The first month or 2 were the most challenging for me, so I tried to distance myself from tempting situations if at all possible. If I was with friends and they were going out for a smoke, I would make sure I had something else to do...because if I went outside with them it would have been all over! Best of luck to you and remember the benefits of quitting will far out weigh the short term satisfaction they can offer. It took me a long time to realize that statement is true.

After 4 weeks on the program, I think the biggest challenge I have is time. Time to plan ahead and pre-prepare food for the upcoming week is just one piece. Over the past few weeks I have been out of town for work, on a camping trip with family and for the next week I have back to back interviews and/or meetings each day. I started interviewing last Thursday and on Friday...before I knew it, I had missed a snack completely! That was the first snack I have missed yet and it happened so quickly. This week I will be challenged more than ever to remember to eat at the right time.
