I am looking into acquiring weights. One of the things that I am noticing is that there are at least 2 ways to buy weights. As individual weights, as a set equaling a combined amount.

I was told that I would need 10, 15, 20, and even 30 lbs. hand weights. Does this mean that the individual weight is 10 lbs. each or does this mean that the combined weight of the two equals 10 lbs.

I also am noticing a variety of weight benches--which one is right for the needs of the program?

Hi Brenna - don't know if I'll get in trouble for this or not...but here goes. I am the owner of Play It Again Sports in Renton and have the BowFlex weights availble at my store. We also have other new or used weights and benches....I'd be happy to help you out as I have with other Kinetix users. If you or anyone would like information, please send me an email at jejones@starbucks.com.

Hey Brenna,
Usually the weight is in lbs individually, not combined. The sets tend to be a bit cheaper, so if you find a set that has the right amounts, that may be the better way to go.

Any stable flat bench works fine . . . even better if you can incline, decline it.
Good luck!

Thank you everyone!

I at least now know which to get even if I can't afford them!! It looks to me like I will be lifting milk jugs filled with sand!! Guess it is better than nothing. Also it seems odd but there are at least three other people vying for weight benches and weights on Craigslist. My next ride is out to PAS. Maybe I will get lucky!

Hey Brenna. True story: I couldn't afford a new set of weights or gym membership the first time I set out to get in shape. So, I looked in our community bargain finder and found a fire fighter who was selling his home gym (dumbbells, barbells, bench) for "best offer". I called him and told him how badly I needed this stuff and how it could change my life. After tugging on his heart for a few minutes, he asked me what I could afford. I said "$40". He said, "I was hoping for $300...but you sound like a good guy...$40 it is." So, there you have it. A home gym for $40. Keep searching and you'll find a solution. Even if you end of spending $100...I promise it will be the best $100 you ever spend. You're worth it!

I posted a wanted ad on Craigslist but no bites!! Yet! I am not going to let this go!! I just got a fantastic elliptical trainer so no excuses on the cardio!! (hence why I can't afford weights) Gotta keep those finances from going into the red.
